If you had to have one word to sum up Monica’s life to date , “variety” would be a good one. She studied film and TV at Griffith University in Brisbane and career high-lights include working for Lend Lease in New York, producing a US$30million feature film “The Secret of Moonacre” which shot in Hungary and as CEO for Screen Canberra for nearly 15 years – growing the industry and supporting film and TV projects.
Monica is also a keen traveller thanks to her parents and her Dutch Indonesian background. She has driven solo across the Arctic Circle from Norway to Russia (in search of reindeer), studied art in Italy, taken many road trips in the USA and creative trips to Bali.
At heart, Monica is an artist and storyteller – from the big screen to the canvas. She writes, paints, draws, produces glass mosaics and crocheted lanterns and other items which are exhibited in the Artisans Nest at Mogo. A keen renovator, she is on a first name basis with the local hardware stores.
Monica moved from Canberra to Tuross Head in 2023 with her husband, two dogs and cat who identifies as dog. She is so proud to have been selected to be part of the Artistans Nest.
