Pay the rent
Due to the Covid 19 virus restrictions Artisans Nest Gallery closed its doors in late March.
Artisans Nest is a not for profit incorporated group of artists in Bodalla on the south coast of NSW. We have carefully managed our finances since opening in but this is breaking us. Artisans Nest needs financial help to see us through.
If you can help us with a donation of any amount it would be much appreciated.
Funds are needed by the end of July for us to survive.
None of the assistance packages have been available to us and we have had no source of income for two months. Our funds will soon be down to $0 as we continue to pay electricity, insurance and a slightly reduced rent offered by our landlord.
LAYERS – Remnants of Change
The old groom’s cottage at Bodalla circa 1875 has housed this artists’ cooperative for 7 years. Using history as a reference point to spark the creative journey, Nest Artists present an exhibition for the River of Art festival 2019.
With the architecture, crafts, textiles, buildings, families, nature, art, food, transport and even the word “layers” for inspiration, the artists evoke memories of times and people gone by in the old cottage with a variety of mediums including fibre, paint, mosaic, leather and vintage textiles.
The exhibition begins Friday 17 May through to Monday 27 May and works can be taken as sold so get in quick for a look. The artists will continue to add items during the festival as they are inspired.
The exhibition is open in our usual shop hours , daily from 10am until 4pm .
Drawn from artists around the Eurobodalla coast and beyond this committed group provide an outlet to raise awareness and appreciation of, and access to, arts and crafts including wearable art in our local area through the promotion, display and sale of members work.
The Artisans Nest gallery enables the collaboration and inspiration of creative ideas between members and strives to distribute information for the cultural benefit of visitors and members of the local community.
Christmas to Easter to River of Art 2018
January to May is huge here on the South Coast. Christmas and the school holidays is followed by various festivals and Australia Day holiday, then Easter when we have a big influx of people with holiday houses & visitors, then there’s the Oyster Festival in Narooma and the River of Art in May with many art related activities. This all happens because the weather is usually fantastic and the water temperature is warm & swimmable.
Artisans Nest news is that we have some new members and we have reluctantly given up the rooms at the back of the Gallery which we were trying out as a workshop space. Too many of our members, though happily capable of running workshops, prefer to spend more time creating works for the Gallery, which you can see when you visit. The Dairy Shed next door has renovated and now sells delicious icecream & they have created a new path which goes right past our door. We the members of Artisans nest have decided to concentrate on the production of our art & have more exhibitions. Our first, in line with the River of Art this year (17th -20th May), will be Revamping the Blues. Make a point of visiting the shop & checking it out!
